New Reading Limitation Restriction Implemented on Twitter

Since Elon Musk purchased Twitter in October 2022 for an astounding $44 billion, the microblogging platform’s regulations have undergone significant adjustments. Twitter has changed over the years, from paid verification to a 10,000 word restriction per tweet, and the most recent change, where a newly joined user may face reading limitation, i.e., only see 500 tweets per day, has split fans.

According to the revised reading limit regulation, which underwent a number of adjustments in a matter of hours, like implementing a reading limitation for mass users. With the second revision, the limit was raised so that unverified Twitter users can only access 500 tweets per day, an older unverified user can read up to 1,000 tweets per day, and a verified user can access up to 10,000 tweets per day. Initially, the limit was set at 300 posts per day for new unverified users, 600 posts for unverified accounts, and 6,000 posts for verified accounts.

The new reading limit regulations, in Elon Musk’s words, are in place to counter “extreme amounts of data scraping & system manipulation. The following temporary constraints have been implemented. Similar to this, he claims that by enforcing the new daily “view limit,” he is performing a “good deed” to “Twitter addicts.”

Elon Musk has expressed his full support to these new rules, while Twitter creator Jack Dorsey has mixed feelings about them. “Running Twitter is hard, and it’s easy to criticize the choices from a distance, which I’m guilty of,” he claims.  although I am aware that Twitter’s success is the objective. And it will.

Mike Benz On The New Reading Limitation Implemented on Twitter

According to Mike Benz, Executive Director of the Foundation for Freedom Online, the new Twitter rules regarding the reading limit will stop governments and AI systems from mass data mining, as well as businesses from setting up online communities to promote their message through mass censorship. With only one click with the Twitter API, one may quickly extract millions of tweets from Twitter.

According to Benz, the new regulation will reduce “some amount of the openness” of the site while perhaps encouraging more people to become paid members on Twitter.

Due to the increased restrictions, the majority of individuals and companies that now have unverified accounts are undoubtedly opposed to the new policy. Some people are upset about not being able to see their own tweets, while others believe that this new rule may negatively affect Twitter by reducing the number of people who can see a tweet.
