On 9th February, India’s Ministry of Mines announced that in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, 60 lakh tons i.e. 6 million tons of lithium was found. Now in today’s time we cannot deny that lithium is quite a valuable resource, it is being used in our phone batteries as a lithium-ion battery or lithium-poly battery. It is also used as a car battery because it has a longer life span as compared to other batteries.

India has been importing a lot of lithium from different countries but this mine can prove to be a game changer for India and its economy, moreover, PM Modi has also set a target of a five trillion economy for the country.

Where can we get Lithium? It is imported from China and Brazil.

Arjun Ram Meghwals’ statements on Lithium deposits found in J&K

Arjun Ram Meghwal said in an interview :

“Go to any showroom, you will now get electric vehicles. One can get it fast. But there was a problem. It can run on a Lithium-based battery. Where can we get Lithium? It is imported from China and Brazil

“But now with the blessings of Mata Vaishnodevi Devi, we got Lithium under her feet (Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir). It is the biggest deposit in the world. It is not a small thing. It is going to be a historic milestone in AtmaNirbhar Bharat” Meghwal told PTI.

Now we are having electric buses and

trucks. We also gave a fillip to the hybrid setup.

Any trucker can use the hybrid method by using petrol till he gets his vehicle charged. They can charge it to the next charging point and that too in the fast mode”, he said.

He also said PM Modi has set a target of a five trillion economy for the country. “Now we are close to a three trillion economy. This will make India a Vishwa Guru”, he said.

According to the Union minister, the government is committed to undertaking the welfare of the people and winning their hearts through good governance and development. “Democracy and good governance are the two important elements of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. These elements will help bring peace and prosperity and that will create employment opportunities in the region,” he said. — PTI

lithium can be used for the betterment

He pointed out that lithium was necessary for manufacturing batteries that powered electric vehicles. “It is imported from China and Brazil. Now, we got lithium in the Reasi district. It is the biggest deposit in the world. It is going to be a historic milestone in Atmanirbhar Bharat,” Meghwal said.

How lithium can be used for the betterment of the country and the economy:

With recent findings of 5.9 million tonnes of lithium reserves in Jammu & Kashmir, India ranks seventh globally.

With these lithium deposits being found in J&K it will give a big boost to the Indian economy because half of the batteries can be made and manufactured from India itself.

Lithium deposits found in J&K will also create new jobs in the labor sector because it will require people to do the mining and for other labor purposes. With 5.9 million tonnes of lithium deposits discovered, India can be an EV superpower.

India can achieve scale and competitiveness and finally by using this element. It will result in a reduction in lithium battery prices, hence a reduction in the cost of electric vehicles price. This will lead to a rise in the increase of EV penetration in India and reduce pollution and it will also reduce the transport cost for our masses.
