People with knowledge of the situation say that Prashant Jhaveri, the chief executive of Flipkart’s online pharmacy, Flipkart Health+, is departing the company after joining less than a year ago.
According to the sources, Kanchan Mishra, an internal candidate, would succeed Jhaveri, who most recently served as chief business officer (CBO) at Apollo Health.
According to a representative for the firm, Mishra, who was responsible for the e-tailer owned by Walmart and focused on the FMCG, home, and general retail businesses, would now serve as CEO of Flipkart Health+. She has worked with the Flipkart group for more than nine years in a variety of capacities.
Jhaveri’s departure follows a recent reorganization at the company under Kalvan Krishnamurthy, CEO of the Flipkart group, which was originally reported by ET in May. Adarsh Menon, senior vice president and head of new ventures at Flipkart, is also leaving the company as a result of changes made at the organization.
According to many people familiar with Flipkart’s pharmaceutical division, the company has increased its market share in recent years. According to a source, “They (Flipkart) have actually rained market share on vertical niche companies like 1me and Pharm Easy.”
While the exact market share of Elinkart Health+ is unknown, industry sources claim that since the company’s introduction in November 2021 with the acquisition of SastaSundar, it has been able to establish itself.
Along with these competitors, Amazon India and Apollo are also growing their pharmacy businesses nationwide.
The main Flipkart app offers access to the company’s online pharmacy, but there is also a separate Senarate Ann for the vertical, which Krishnamurthy has been scaling as part of the Bengaluru-based company’s focus on expanding into new categories in addition to core markets like smartphones, large appliances, and fashion.
