Mercedes-Benz is incorporating ChatGPT into its MBUX Voice Assistant in an effort to improve usability by utilizing ChatGPT’s natural conversation structure. Mercedes-Benz is utilizing Azure OpenAI Service to integrate the well-known chatbot.

Mercedes-Benz stated that the ChatGPT connection will enable users to receive athletics and weather updates, get answers to their location-related inquiries, and even manage their smart homes.

Through the ChatGPT plug-in ecosystem, customers will soon be able to make reservations at restaurants, purchase movie tickets, and do other complicated activities, according to a blog post from Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI service.

Mercedes-Benz declared in a blog post on Thursday that it has “combined the very best of the two worlds, complementing the authenticated data of MBUX Voice Assistant with the additional natural dialogue format of ChatGPT.” Users will encounter a voice assistant that can hold conversations in addition to taking natural voice instructions.

As soon as participants ask the Voice Assistant a hard question or for information about their destination, they will get a more thorough response while maintaining their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road.

Customers of Mercedes-Benz can participate in the three-month US-focused beta program to be early adopters of the novel technology. On June 16, 2023, the beta program will start for more than 900,000 US vehicles with the MBUX infotainment system.

A unique feature of the upcoming beta program is that users may sign up from their car simply stating, “Hey Mercedes, I’d like to become part of the beta program.” The results of this study, according to Mercedes, will be utilized to enhance the voice assistant and specify future deployment plans.

According to Microsoft (MSFT), the ChatGPT system can also communicate with other programs to conduct tasks like booking reservations at restaurants or buying movie tickets.
