The goal of Twitter’s new CEO Linda Yaccarino is to turn the firm into “the world’s most accurate real-time information source.”
The newly appointed CEO of the social media firm sent out an email to all of her staff asking for their help in creating “Twitter 2.0- the world’s most accurate real-time information source.”
“The success of Twitter 2.0 is all of our responsibility,” she said in an email to staff. We may do this by working backward, challenging our presumptions, and creating something entirely new.
Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, acquired Twitter last year after Jack Dorsey relinquished control of the company as CEO. Since then, several scandals have engulfed the microblogging platform. Musk came under fire for how he handled posting false material on the site. Additionally, Musk’s contentious acquisition led to significant job losses. He invited controversial and far-right personalities back to the platform, driving away its highest-paying sponsors.
Musk selected Linda Yaccarino, a prominent advertising executive, to run Twitter on a daily basis last month.
Yaccarino, a former NBCUniversal president of advertising, echoed Musk’s objective in a letter. She remarked, “Elon realized these industries required revolution, from space exploration to electric automobiles. so he carried it out. Recently, it has become more and more obvious that the global town square has to evolve in order to advance civilization through the free flow of knowledge.
Yaccarino, who was born into an Italian-American family, has worked exclusively on television. She revised her advertising approach at NBCUniversal, a division of cable provider Comcast, to encourage a move from traditional television to online streaming of programming. Yaccarino oversaw a group of 2,000 individuals, according to the NBCUniversal website. She consolidated all of the group’s platforms into one to simplify advertising strategies.

She spoke with Musk at the “Possible” marketing conference in mid-April of this year, during which she made the comment that “Advertisers need to feel that there is an opportunity for them to influence what you’re building.” She said that the objective is to turn Twitter into a place where marketers are eager to spend money and that this entails product development, user safety, and content management.
And a month later, Musk teased Yaccarino’s employment by teasing that he had recruited a woman to succeed him as CEO of Twitter and its parent company, the newly titled X Corporation, in a tweet, without disclosing her identity.
The following tweet from Musk stated that Yaccarino would be largely responsible for commercial operations while Musk would continue to oversee design and technology at Twitter and transform the platform into an “everything app” dubbed X.
Yaccarino will have a tough time winning back significant sponsors that are wary of being associated with conspiracy theorists and extreme right-wing content creators that Musk urged to return to Twitter.
