I must warn you, Flipkart, this relationship is in a very fragile state right now.
I have been giving you my custom from 2008 or so when you were a quaint little business sell ing books. Since then, of course, you have grown up considerably , and with you, my confidence in buying things online. And believe me, I am no Luddite; when I got an Android phone, among the first things I downloaded was your e-books app. Today , I efficiently use a smarter, better, bigger Android phone and do a lot on that from listening to music to reading to finding a driver to take me home. In all this, my association with you has strength ened it has always been a habit with me when buying things to say ‘Well, let me check Flipkart.’ But this charming relationship is imperilled, because I don’t think you care about me anymore. The first crack appeared when I could no longer use your mobile website but I was willing to overlook it because I don’t much care for looking at things on a tiny screen. But now I hear you are trying to force my hand by making me do just that without offering me the chance to take a wider view of things, so to speak.
I’ll be honest, I do not like cluttering up my phone with apps, nor do I like to peer into a 5-inch screen to make out colours and shapes. I’m a careful buyer, Flipkart; I like to be sure I know exactly what I’m putting my money into, and compare merchandise across the many avenues that are just waiting to make me log into my netbanking account. Then, too, it irks me that when I search online for ‘cute white top,’ the results are not going to throw up your products or your sister Myntra’s a sad loss. As for our data connectivity let’s be realistic here. We both know it sucks, and I do not particularly relish the idea of seeing my phone screen go blank before I have completed the transaction; nor, I suppose, do you.
I know you have answers to most of these peevish complaints. I have read all the articles about how most of your customers have shown themselves willing to buy through your app, but frankly , Flipkart, that experience holds no value for me, and I cannot understand why my feelings and believe me, I have heard dark mutterings against this move from many of my friends, too are being completely disregarded here. We may be a minority , but are we so negligible?
You are testing that loyalty , Flipkart. And I simply cannot understand why you don’t want my money . Is this over?
