CEO Andy Jassy of Amazon Announced To Invest $15 Billion More In India

According to a top executive of the firm, CEO Andy Jassy of Amazon announced intentions to invest $15 billion more in India, bringing its total investment in the nation to USD 26 billion. CEO Andy Jassy of Amazon claimed the business has already invested USD 11 billion in India to date after meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the US.

Following a meeting between CEO Andy Jassy of Amazon and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter’s visit to the US, e-commerce giant Amazon said on Saturday that it would invest an additional $15 billion in India, bringing its total investment in the nation to $26 billion.

“My interaction with Prime Minister Modi was quite positive and helpful. I believe we have a few objectives in common. One of the major investors in India is Amazon. We already have $11 billion invested, and we want to add another $15 billion, for a total of $26 billion. Therefore, we are eagerly anticipating our future collaboration, stated Jassy.

In a tweet, India’s External Affairs Ministry stated that the Prime Minister’s meeting with  CEO Andy Jassy of Amazon and the President was fruitful.

“Discussions were centered around the area of e-commerce and the potential for additional partnership with @amazon in the logistics sector in India,” it stated.

Jassy expressed her desire to support efforts to increase the number of employment created, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises that are digitalized, and the number of Indian firms and goods that may be sold internationally.

Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet, met with Modi on Friday in Washington and later said that the internet giant will contribute $10 billion to India’s digitization fund.

In a tweet, the Ministry of external affairs stated that Prime Minister Modi had invited Google CEO Sundar Pichai to investigate more opportunities for cooperation in artificial intelligence, fintech, and cybersecurity goods and services, as well as the production of mobile devices in India.

According to the government, they also addressed how Google and Indian academic institutions should work together to advance talent development and research.

At President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden’s invitation, Modi will be in the US from June 21 to June 24. The Prime Minister, in addition to Pichai, also had meetings with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Apple CEO Tim Cook, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and AMD CEO Lisa Su.
